This study aims to find the influence of participants¡¯ mental health on the outcome of The Self-Sufficiency Program in order to providing implications for social welfare policy. This study examined a panel survey data of South Korean The Self-Sufficiency Program participants. Subjects of analyzation were 1,239 workers from 247 community self sufficiency centers in South Korea. Descriptive statistical analysis, T-test, and cross analysis were conducted to figure out the participants¡¯ attributes. Multiple regression analysis were conducted for figuring out the relation between mental health and workfare program outcome. The result of this study may suggest some implications about policy. The political support on the participants¡¯ mental health is crucial to achieve better outcome. In case of participants who are currently taking parts in the program and suffering from mental problems, social service which can manage their mental health problem should be provided. The mental health problem tends not to be solved in a short period of time and requires steady management. Therefore, providing continuous social service for mental health care of participants in a workfare program is required to improve the outcome.
